Revised and updated edition

Compiled by Hans J.B. Combrink, Craig Soderberg, Michael E. Boutin and Alanna Y. Boutin

Sabah, one of the two states of Malaysia on the island of Borneo, is popularly known as "the land below the wind" and has a rich diversity in terms of linguistics, culture, music, dance, crafts and religion.

This annotated bibliography is an attempt to document and provide information about the availability of resources on the languages and peoples of Sabah. It is meant to be useful to everybody interested in the study or advancement of the languages and cultures of Sabah.

The body of this bibliography is organized into three sections according to author/title, ethnic group, and topic, and includes entries up to the year 2000. All books and articles as well as their locations are included with annotations in the author/title section.

The following locations were investigated in the preparation of this bibliography: the Local History Collection of the Sabah State Library (including 10,000 volumes of the former British Council Library), the Borneo Collection of the Tun Fuad Stephens Research Library, the Sabah State Archives, the Library of the Sabah State Museum, and the Library of the Malaysia Branch of SIL International. 2006. xiv, 449 pp.
